FAQs

Why are dental exams needed?

Getting a regular check up examination will help prevent costly treatments by being spotted earlier.

This is done by having a dental hygienist perform a cleaning of your teeth. Shortly after, the dentist comes in and will check your teeth surfaces and gumlines to spot for any soreness or any other signs of infection and/or problem areas. Getting an exam every 6 months, or more is recommended.

How do fillings work?

Fillings are usually required when you have a breakthrough on the surface enamel of your teeth caused by a cavity. Preperation of the tooth by numbing and later drilling around the cavity is usually performed first.  Some pain or pressure may be experienced when a numbing shot is applied or during drilling. Once this has been completed, filling of a composite resin will be used.

When should I visit the dentist?

You will want to visit the dentist if you or your child are experiencing any soreness, jaw pain, mouth sores, swollen face or gums, tooth sensitivity, redness, broken teeth, dry mouth, bad taste in your mouth or bad bread, bleeding gums or any other sort of dental complaint and discomfort.

Remember to always schedule a regular check up to prevent any serious problems or to prevent any infections that may lead to more serious issues.

Can I fix my teeth and smile?

You most definetely can get your teeth fixed along with a beautiful smile. Procedures will depend on a case by case. Please ask about  about our “Smile Design” treatments.

Are dental x-rays safe?
Todays technology advancements allow a much safer release of radiation when taking X-rays. We will always try to limit the amount of X-rays taken and your safety is always a priority.

Dental X-rays allows your dentist to check tooth and gum health. If you have gum diseases, the dentist may want pictures every 6 months. For regular check-ups, it’s about every 2 years, depending on your dentist’s plan. However, Kids can have more X-rays done than adults because their teeth are changing and they more likely to get more cavaties.
